The Project
This case study comes from a past customer, Michael, who purchased an 8ft x 6ft Plastic Shed Base on behalf of a friend who was looking for a suitable foundation. After buying a brand new wooden shed, Michael and his friend began researching for the best solution to install under the shed. Whilst browsing the internet, Michael found our website and our fully recycled plastic bases. They both began reading up on our product, its benefits and how past customers had used it in the past.
In fact, Michael was so impressed he ordered the 8ft x 6ft Plastic Shed Base the same day and received the order 3 working days later in an easy to manage parcel packed by our fantastic warehouse team.
“I liked your website and we both agreed your product was very competitive”
The Work
Michael and his friend had to begin the project by levelling out the area the best they could due to a slight slope in the garden from front to back. They decided to use paving stones at the front to ensure the base and shed would sit level once installed.
With the ground level, it was time for the simple installing of the 8ft x 6ft Plastic Shed Base. Starting in one corner and laying one panel at a time, Michael simply connected each panel together using the specially designed slot and peg system until the entire area was filled. A very simple process.
Next, with the base down they began filling the area with gravel. Around 8kg of gravel is needed to fill each panel so you can work out from there roughly how much is needed to fill the full area. Again, this did not take long for them to complete.
Finally, it was time for Michael to install the brand new wooden shed and begin decorating. As you can see from the featured image at the top of the page, the shed was painted using very bright red paint!
“I bought the plastic base for a friend of mine and it’s worked out superbly well. The ground was predominately topsoil & clay, with quite a slope front to back. It didn’t take a lot of effort to level, the slabs you see at the front of the base are only there to take up some slope at that point.”
Conclusion
Michael and his friend were and still are incredibly pleased with their 8ft x 6ft Plastic Shed Base and red wooden shed!
Michael told us “I have erected a couple of sheds in the past using different methods for the base, in my opinion, the plastic base and gravel idea is by far the simplest and most effective. It is also the most cost-effective! The next project that has been lined up for me I think is a greenhouse. I will most certainly be considering the plastic base idea once again.”
Luckily for Michael, we have a solution for his next project too, a Greenhouse Base! Should you have any feedback or photos of your installation or any questions regarding our fully recycled base then please do not hesitate to contact us.
