This case study comes from Bulwell Riverside centre who decided that they needed to act on the potential danger of metal frame work inside of a soil banking at the back of the centre. It was an important job to complete as this was an area where children would occasionally run around and of course became a safety concern.
Paul who is the Head Gardener at Nottingham City Council Commercial & Operation Services contacted us once he had been tasked with finding a suitable product to cover for the now exposed metal frame work in the soil banking. He was searching for a strong yet soft product which could be easily contoured and installed to fit the shape of the bank.
Paul was searching the internet and soon came across our fully recycled rubber grass mats. He read up on our grass mats and found that they would be perfect for his application. After measuring up, Paul ordered the correct amount of mats along with enough cable ties and plastic fixing pegs to fix them securely and had them delivered to the centre.
Paul received his rubber grass mats via pallet and set to work straight away installing them. Paul started at one end of the bank and began laying the rubber grass mats once at once. He secured them into the soil at the top of the bank and at the bottom of the bank using the black fixing pegs.
“We are using it to cover the side of a soil bank with metal frame work with in it . It’s to prevent children hurting themselves when they run in to it when playing”
Once a mat was installed, Paul moved onto laying the next grass mats and connected the neighbouring mats together using cable ties. This process was repeated until the bank had been safely covered.
Rubber grass mats were ideal for this simple yet effective project which will no doubt save any playing children from hurting themselves on the dangerous protruding metal frame work.
Paul and the centre are pleased with the outcome of the project. The dangerous banking is now covered with little chance of anyone injuring themselves on the metal frame work.
A big thank you to Paul for using our rubber grass mats and for sharing the information and photos to allow us to create this case study. Should you have any photos of your installation or have any questions regarding our products please do not hesitate to contact us.
